Early 2011, Metabolomic Discoveries started the 1000 Metabolomes Program. The purpose is to analyse the metabolomic composition of 1000 different organisms and biological products. The 1000 Metabolomes Program will contribute to their deeper understanding and can help improve products on aspects like flavour, efficiency and quality in general.
Metabolites play a crucial role in all areas of daily life, from pharmaceuticals to prevent diseases, to diets to promote health. Other examples of the importance of metabolites are taste and aroma in food and beverages, in the biomass production for biofuels and the use of nutrients in cosmetics.
The scope of the program is broad, ranging from food and beverages to medicine and cosmetics. With the analyzed samples, Metabolomic Discoveries is increasing its extensive compound database, which will become a valuable source of information for further research.
